Queer Camp Melodrama Arrives on Digital & DVD Feb. 9

As I’ve been reviewing films, I always come back to one simple question - would I watch this again? Even for live events (pre-pandemic) - would I go again? Also, I keep in mind that just because something didn’t resonate with me doesn’t mean it won’t resonate with someone else. We’ve all experienced that when a friend, co-worker, or family member raves about something that you thought was only okay, etc.
The story of the new film “X” - not to be confused with the band from L.A. of the same name or the band from Japan, revolves around Christian - aka X - who is the hostess of a masquerade ball. There are fun and games to be had, both during the event, and during the after party, until someone from Christian’s past threatens to reveal her secrets.

I just could not get into this film. It meandered and plodded along. When things did pick up, I found myself not really caring as I wasn't emotionally attached to any of the characters.
It’s shot well. There definitely are campy elements mixed among the serious. But it just wasn’t resonating with me. Perhaps it will resonate with you.
Best,
