The Seattle Symphony performed the “first” film in the Star Wars saga (Episode 4) almost six years to the day. I was fortunate enough to review both Episodes 4 and 5 before you know what happened in 2020. Last year they completed the original trilogy with Episode 6 in triumphant fashion.

Over the weekend (Friday through Sunday), they performed the original soundtrack live to “Star Wars - The Force Awakens” originally released in 2015. Episode 7 in the newest trilogy, the patrons were anxious for the galactic festivities to begin.

Conductor Lawrence Loh once again returned to lead the Seattle Symphony (he’s conducted all the Star Wars events I’ve reviewed). Maestro Loh is a huge Star Wars fan himself and it really shows in his conducting work during these events.  I had the pleasure of interviewing him last year so I was especially looking forward to his work once again on Sunday afternoon.

I’ve mentioned this in other reviews but for the uninitiated - if you like a film that is being presented in this format, absolutely attend a performance. If you’ve never seen the film, then it’s a mixed bag depending really on how you like the film. If you don’t like the film, well, then that may be a harder sell but let me tell you the music performance portion is always splendidly performed.

The fans cheered for their favorite characters, storyline outcomes, and after tremendous musical interludes performed by the symphony. As soon as the booming title note was performed, the newbies in the audience were already engaged in the experience.

While the next Star Wars event isn’t on the books as of yet (Episode 8), there are several other film events coming up worth checking out here!

As always, in this reviewer's opinion, you can’t go wrong with any of these film events. “Star Wars - The Force Awakens” was no exception.

Recommended!
