JOSE FELICIANO Dimitriou's Jazz Alley March 16 through March 19th Eclectic Arts Media
JOSE FELICIANO
Seattle, WA
Dimitriou's Jazz Alley
March 16, 2023 - 7:30pm Show
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing some legendary artists. On Thursday evening, the one and only Jose Feliciano was respectfully added to that unbelievable list.
With a five piece backing band (with his sons on drums and bass), Jose took the stage for the first of five performances at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley to a packed room.
As soon as the first song of the set started, his distinctive voice echoed throughout the club and a musical journey was on deck for all of the patrons to partake in.
Spanning a multi decade setlist of songs, such as “Chico and The Man”, “To Love Somebody”, “Suspicious Minds”, and “Ain’t No Sunshine”, the band was locked in and Jose played both acoustic and electric guitar like only he can.
His voice was in fine form and I was mesmerized by his guitar playing. In particular his right hand work on the acoustic was just a friendly reminder of just how good Jose is as a guitarist.
The “dad jokes” were aplenty and only endeared him that much more to the audience. His set was longer than I expected which was a very pleasant surprise - going well past the ninety minute mark.
Overall, the show was wonderful and Jose Feliciano is a musical and cultural treasure.
Highly recommended!
