Opening Night Review: March 8th, 2023
Comedy is always a subjective thing. What one person may find knee slapping hilarious, another will find absolutely devoid of humor.
“Between Two Knees” by the 1941s (a sketch comedy troupe made up of multi tribe native americans) at the Seattle Rep left me underwhelmed.
There were laughs here and there but overall I found the show to be similar to that of a variety show that just didn’t connect with me.
As the actors proclaimed - the trauma the native americans have suffered allows them to make fun of the history (and shed a light on some historical events that many aren’t aware of) that has been presented over the centuries.
I felt like much of the show was an “in-joke” and I wasn’t in on the joke.
I heard some patrons leaving who thought it was an amazingly funny show. Perhaps you will, too. Again, humor is subjective.
“Between Two Knees” runs through March 26th. Tickets are available HERE!
