The new film, “The Exorcism” has an interesting take on a classic film that is definitely similar to, “The Exorcist”. It’s very similar to a film within a film setting. That’s where the comparisons basically end.

Russell Crowe portrays a struggling actor who’s past demons create a world where the viewer isn’t sure if he’s slipping back into his issues or if something supernatural is actually happening.

For me the best parts of the film was any time Russell Crowe was on screen and/or David Hyde Pierce (playing a priest). Both actors are master actors and the scene at the end of the film with both of them almost paid the price of admission. Had they had more screen time together, it would have been a hit.

“The Exorcism” is a decent viewing but it’s not breaking any new ground.
