The new film “Air Doll” is a mesmerizing tale of sadness, curiosity, and relationships in a lonely world. The classic fish out of water concept is given a twist when a man who has a relationship with his air doll suddenly gains a heart.
She comes to life and experiences Japan with and away from her human partner.
There is such a delicateness to the narrative that director Hirokazu Kore-eda so expertly presents throughout the film.
Nozomi (played by Bae Doona) is just a marvel to watch as she comes to life and experiences life in modern day Japan. The viewer completely believes and feels everything she encounters. Her performance is breathtaking.
The film subject matter may be off putting to some but don’t let it confuse you. This is not a sex heavy film at all. Not even in the slightest.
This is actually a wonderful tale that really anyone could relate to at some point in their life.
