The new film, “The Stalking Fields” is a thriller that at its core tackles the subject of PTSD. The concept of the screenplay is interesting mixing a few different ideas that may ring familiar. As always, no plot points here.
I feel I’ve reached a point where I’ve not only reviewed a large number of films over the years, but I’ve also interviewed many of the creatives behind them, as well as reviewed many in-person theatre events where acting is front and center. When the acting is lacking, it stands out like a sore thumb, unfortunately.
This film from the get go had some definite issues in the acting department. Even as an ensemble piece (which it is), there were only a few actors at any given time that knew their craft. The others were struggling to portray their respective characters in a believable way. It was hard not to notice this issue.
It’s a shame as the story was interesting and the subject is a necessary one. “The Stalking Fields” could have been so much more than what was delivered on screen.
Best,
