The new horror film, “Legions” is being advertised as a love letter to the Evil Dead series of films. This could be a good or bad thing depending on what your take is on those classic films.
While there are definitely aspects of “Legions” that are straight up Evil Dead worship, where the film falls short is the horror aspect. There’s just too many scenes of dialogue and not enough horror.
I totally understand needing to tell the story and in many cases I prefer it. But, there needs to be more of an intermixing of horror elements to make a film interesting. Even with a minimal budget, some of the best horror films have made do on a creative level when money was scarce. I only wish that the creatives behind “Legions” had done the same thing.
Overall, “Legions” could have been a much better movie.
