There are a few musicals that I was only familiar with in name, having never seen them live in person. “Jersey Boys” was one such show. A musical that had come across my path more than once, even before I was doing this media work called Eclectic Arts Media. So, when I saw it was on the 24/25 schedule I was definitely looking forward to reviewing it for the very first time.

The story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, the show was well attended opening weekend up in Everett, WA.

With these types of musicals, many in the audience want the songs first, the story second. After all, when you’ve sold millions of records over the decades, it only makes sense that the audience wants to hear certain songs that they love. For me, I wanted both. I knew some of the songs (more than I actually thought once I saw the show) but I didn’t know much about the group.

The book was solid in the first act, a bit all over the place in the second act. I would have preferred to have the ups and the downs told as they happened, not put in almost like an afterthought in the second act. What kept it all together was the music and the performances.

This cast was ridiculously amazing! From the acting, the “moves”, and of course the singing, the four leads of the group were just a joy to watch last night. I couldn’t find one thing to pick at. Nothing.  Absolutely nothing at all.

The supporting cast was also mesmerizingly great! This cast was just a well oiled machine and it absolutely showed.

My only minor quibble would be I wish at least one of the three number one hits in the first act was performed in its entirety. Arguably the three most well known songs in their catalog, the audience was waiting to hear those songs in full. But, again, that’s a minor thing.

The audience was well captivated and immediately got up to give the cast and crew a well deserved standing ovation.

“Jersey Boys” was one of the best shows I’ve seen at the Village Theatre and arguably one of the best shows I’ve attended in 2025.

Highest recommendation!
