It’s interesting what has transpired since I last covered Little Miss Nasty in-person in 2019. I had just been credentialed to start covering the Seattle Opera the month before their show. I was still very new to covering the Pacific Northwest Ballet and I was still learning more about theatre, musicals, and the like. Of course the pandemic fucked everything up for everyone in 2020 and into 2021.
I conducted a livestream with Little Miss Nasty in April of 2021 to promote their song/video for “Hungry”. And then, for me at least, I started covering in-person events again later in 2021 and all through 2022.
Which brings us to Friday at El Corazon in April of 2023.
I was so looking forward to seeing what Little Miss Nasty would be bringing to the stage four years after I last saw them. I had kept up with them online but that didn’t prepare me for what I was about to experience on Friday night.
Art is art. There is no way to truly judge it. What resonates with one person may not resonate with another. Having seen countless artistic events, interviewing artistic guests from literally all around the world, I feel I bring a solid point of view to the proceedings when it comes to artistic performances. I’m by no means an expert in any given field but I’m not an amateur either.
What I witnessed on stage was purely mind blowing performance art entertainment.
It’s honestly difficult to put into words everything that went into the Little Miss Nasty show. Of course some will take a quick look and wrongfully dismiss the group as T&A or some other non accurate descriptor. Is it sexy, provocative, and engaging? Of course. But it is so much more than that.
I’ve used the word intention in my interviews many times over the past few years. I believe in the intention of what an artist puts forth. I want to know that they were purposeful with what they present to the world. Little Miss Nasty had intention in fucking spades!
The choreography was so in-tune with the music while the themes of each piece damn near got existential if you were there. And, no, I don’t mean if you were tripping on substances.
The emergence of life in one piece, the power of femme identifying human beings in the next, the creative empowerment of women, the LGBTQ+ community, and any other marginalized group in yet another piece, the show was joyously overwhelming to say the least.
What’s absolutely wonderful is that the show can work on so many different levels for a wide demographic. The casual patron can have a girls/friends night out and just have a fucking blast. Another group could be really into the dance aspect which is all throughout the show. And yet another group could be mesmerized by the whole presentation (I fall in this camp clearly).
Gina, Sativa, Tessa, Kyla, and Ellena (sorry I got your name wrong in my last livestream clip that I shared on social media) are professional dancers, emphasis on the word professional. They’ve each been dancing and working at their craft for literally decades. They’ve suffered the high and lows of pursuing a career in dance, the injuries, the rejections, and such, but also the triumphs and the accolades.
When they take the stage on this tour, you are witnessing greatness. A sexual, creative, artistic, romp through an hour of fantastic, expertly choreographed dance routines that are treated with the utmost care as well as the presentation to match via the lightshow, video, wardrobe changes, and other accessories to enhance the experience. Little Miss Nasty brings you into their world, has their way with you, and then leaves you wanting more. Much more.
If you’re reading this, go to https://www.littlemissnastyofficial.com/ and check the tour dates. If you’re one of the fortunate cities they’re performing in - buy your ticket now. I mean right now!
Don’t see your city? No problem - you can always go to one of their residencies in several cities in the U.S.
Little Miss Nasty is hands down one of the most inspiring performances I’ve been to in recent years (and without tooting my own horn that’s saying a lot considering the hundreds of performances I’ve reviewed). I left the show with a renewed sense of energy for my own artistic endeavors and that’s one of the highest compliments I can pay the group.
Thank you so much!
Best,

The show also featured Gina and The Eastern Block - the other baby of Gina of Little Miss Nasty fame. The trio played a mix of hard hitting tunes with Gina on vocals for the entire set. I have to say Gina is outstanding as a frontwoman. Your eyes can’t help but be drawn to her and she worked the crowd like a good frontwoman should. It will be interesting to see where Gina and The Eastern Block head in the future as they are definitely getting established as their own entity, separate from Little Miss Nasty. An awesome one two punch of Gina-led goodness on this tour.
The opener was the dark metal circus themselves: Raven Black. A band that has been touring their butts off, it was great to see them back on the road after the pandemic timeframe. A visual and sonic feast for the senses, they are a multimedia band that is gaining more fans with every show they play. Any time a band puts intention (there’s that word again) into their show, I take notice. And Raven Black definitely has been honing their whole presentation over the years to really entertain the fans. A perfect band to start the evening with.
