JEEVES TAKES A BOW Taproot Theatre Seattle, WA May 17 - June 17th, 2023 Eclectic Arts Media
Jeeves Takes a Bow

Directed by: Scott Nolte
Taproot Theatre Company

Review: Friday 5/26/23 - 8pm Performance
I was cautiously optimistic about the new show at the Taproot Theatre due to the strong cast that was assembled. Having seen both Richard Nguyen Sloniker and Calder Shilling in several other productions (at Taproot and elsewhere about town), I knew what they brought to the performance table. Having Scott Nolte at the director’s helm was also another point in the positivity column.
I can happily report that the show is a winner. It works extremely well due to the entire cast.
The story is fantastical and is rather simple to follow (unlike some of the more complex productions at Taproot in year’s past) which I was in the mood for. The humor is on point without being over the top and the general laughter in the room on Friday night attests to this fact.
As hoped for, Richard and Calder set the bar for the entire show with their nuanced, straightfaced, and brilliant portrayals of their respective characters of Jeeves and Bertram. They were in complete command of their parts and it definitely showed.
The other cast members were right on level with the leads which made for an even more enjoyable experience. In other words, there were no weak links in the cast. None. Not even close.
The mix of story, direction, and cast made “Jeeves Takes a Bow” a welcome (for this reviewer) return to form for Taproot Theatre.
Recommended.
“Jeeves Takes a Bow” runs through June 17th. Tickets are available: HERE!
