The new film, “The Ambush” is exactly as the title describes. UAE soldiers are traveling through a canyon and they are ambushed by the enemy. The film is based on a true story.
Upon first watch, I had to think about any other films I had seen that focused on UAE characters in the lead roles. I couldn't think of one which made this a welcome change. I watched the film with subtitles as I always do but there is an English dub available as well for those who don’t like to read.
The film is gritty and the attack scenes are strong as well. However, after a while, there’s only so much they can do with the plot and it does begin to meander a bit.
But, overall, “The Ambush” is a solid viewing.
