The 2025/2026 Broadway at the Paramount season kicked off last night in fantastic style with the rip roaring show, “Some Like It Hot”. Based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture, the show was the perfect start to the new 25/26 season.

What can I say right off the top is that the show was highly entertaining. With yesterday’s unseasonably warm weather, I believe most patrons wanted to go into a show that was fun and entertaining. The more dramatic shows can wait for the seasons to change. “Some Like It Hot” worked on so many levels including the aforementioned entertainment level.

From the acting, the singing, the dancing (my goodness, the dancing), and the music, the show just hit on so many different areas and they all worked. Even the comedy was a nice touch to keep the tone of the show fun and enjoyable.

The leads in the show were as good as could be. Matt Loehr (as Joe/Josephine), Tavis Kordell (as Jerry/Daphne), Leandra Ellis-Gaston (as Sugar), and Edward Juvier (as Osgood) each brought the show to life and their individual talents worked so well together (especially during the dance numbers) that they were all a marvel to behold.

There was a technical issue during the intermission which was eventually revealed to be an injury sustained by Tavis Kordell. To their credit they gutted out Act II and I honestly wouldn’t have known they were injured based on how they performed throughout the second half of the show.

The dancing really stood out to me as each number was performed effortlessly by the entire company. They looked so good and with the band playing at their best, the numbers came off beautifully.

“Some Like It Hot” was darn near perfect as a thoroughly entertaining experience. Do not sleep on this show. It’s absolutely worth attending a performance!

Highly recommended!
