"MONSTER" - Well Go USA - Film Review
MONSTER
Well Go USA
(Delayed) Review: 5/6/24
Rating: 4.5 / 5
The new Japanese film “Monster” from Well Go USA is an intense look at a day to day drama through the lenses of multiple characters.
As always, I like the readers to watch a film without plot points from my reviews. What I can say is that the film focuses on a bullying episode at school between a young student and his teacher in Japan. His single mother tries to get to the bottom of the situation as it doesn’t make sense to her.
I’m always fascinated by films that can make a drama feel like you’re watching a documentary. “Monster” is one such film. It tackles serious subjects with a fine touch that leaves the audience curious about the truth of the plot.
The multiple angles from the characters really added a sense of depth to the film that only enhanced what was already great. From the son to the mother to the teacher, many new layers are added to “Monster” that make repeated viewing almost mandatory as I know I missed certain details upon the first viewing.
The film is deep and thought provoking so just know what you’re getting into as a viewer. But, trust me, “Monster” is well worth your viewing time.
Recommended.
Best,
