The new film, “Ordinary Angels” is coming to theaters this Friday the 23rd and let me tell you it’s worth making the trek to your nearest cinema.

On the surface it may seem like a typical feel-good drama about overcoming odds based on a true story. Where the film distances itself from the pack is in the approach to the source material. The characters (especially Hillary Swank’s Sharon) are extremely relatable. They are not overly polished humans for the sake of selling a story but people with real flaws. Yet, through it all, they find a way to save a life.

I don’t want to give away any plot points (I typically don't in any of my reviews) as it would ruin the story. I would just say that if you’ve ever been in the position where you felt the world was coming down on you and there was no way to fix it, you’ll relate to this film.

It is a drama and it does have melodramatic moments (tissue material) but it balances those moments out with a narrative that will have you feeling satisfied by the time the credits roll.

“Ordinary Angels” is highly recommended.
