The new film “Lights Out” is a throwback to the video store days of action films. Frank Grillo stars as a former military man now a homeless nomad trying to find his way in the world. He is befriended by an ex-con that sees his fighting skills in a bar brawl and talks him into making some money in the world of underground fighting.
When you choose to watch a film like this, you want one thing - fighting. The rest is not nearly as important as the fighting action in the ring.street.etc. The fight scenes are done well. I only wish there were more of them. The storyline and subplots are generic and cumbersome but the film is entertaining on the whole.
“Lights Out” will be your cup of tea if you remember walking the aisles of the video store looking for an action film that you hadn’t seen yet.
