The new film, “Emergency Declaration” is a South Korean drama that lives up to the hype. Loosely based on real events, the film follows a terrorist plot aboard an airplane. I’ll leave it at that.
When movies use a singular location (in this case an airplane), it either yields spectacular results or it falls flat on its face. In this case, it’s the former. “Emergency Declaration” has a stunning cast that really digs deep to pull the audience into the stressful situations they’re all going through aboard this plane.
There is actual emotional weight throughout the film and this is a huge piece that is often missing from much of today’s cinema. It does get a bit melodramatic but not annoyingly so. It is, after all, a South Korean film.
Overall, “Emergency Declaration” packs a punch and is well worth seeking out!
