I’ve been asked many times to describe Blue Man Group to those that have never experienced one of their shows. I’ve seen the production in Las Vegas more than once. I’ve seen the touring version of the theatre show. I’ve seen “The Complex” which was their version of a rock show more than once as well. I have an original spin art from the Las Vegas show I was at hanging in my home. But even with all that experience, it’s damn near impossible to describe what a new patron will see and hear at one of their shows.

For those of us that have seen the Blue Man Group multiple times, the show was getting predictable to put it mildly. I still enjoyed it but I had wished they would change up more than a few skits. Well, some wishes cannot be denied.

The new version that is on tour right now is being billed as “still Blue but all new” or something to that effect. I can attest that 90% of the show is definitely new. The other 10% is familiar but refreshed. This is a welcome update for us repeat offenders.

Blue Man Group is an experience. It is the wonderment that a child has where there are no boundaries. You just do. You just become. You don’t overthink it. You don’t analyze it. You accept what is presented to you as an immensely creative and artistic performance art whirlwind. It is humorous and it is also a stark representation of the odd person out that we have all experienced at one time or another.

It is music. It is percussion. It is making sounds with things you have no idea what they are but somehow they work.

It is art in an unartful world. It is a visually stunning presentation that is the Blue Man Group’s world.

It is interactive. Audience members are involved in the show. Even your’s truly got pulled up tonight for a short skit that thankfully was a decoy bit in the show. And no - I had no idea ahead of time I would be picked.

I have never seen anything like the Blue Man Group.  Ever.  If you are an open minded, artistic individual who can see many perspectives in life, it will hit home in many, many ways.  It will inspire and make you feel at home in a crazily creative world.

Highly recommended!
