A NIGHT WITH THE RUSSELLS Taproot Theatre Company October 8, 2022 Eclectic Arts
A Night With The Russells: The Legacy Of Us
Stories And Songs
Performed by: Faith Bennett Russell, Be Russell, and Sarah Russell
Taproot Theatre Company
Seattle, WA
Review: Saturday 10/8/22 8pm Performance
As a bit of a departure for the Taproot Theatre Company, their fall show is a personal evening of stories and songs by the incredibly talented Russells (Faith and her two daughters Be and Sarah).
When siblings or in this case family members sing together, the harmonies can’t be beat. The DNA always shines through and this performance was no exception. Having just seen the Faith directed “Mamma Mia” (Village Theatre) in July - twice - which also featured Be and Sarah in the cast, I already had a good idea what these ladies could do on stage.
I personally loved it when all three were on stage together. The stories, banter, and flat out love for each other was incredibly evident. And, again, when they started to sing together, it was a homerun that would rival the Mariners (beat Houston in the ALDS - sorry had to put that in here).
While the song selection is going to cover pretty much something for everyone, what was also nice was the comfort or easy going ness of all three when they told their stories in between the songs. It really made the audience feel like they actually were in the Russells home, sitting around the living room, while they told their respective journeys and truths.
I love the fact that much (if not all) of the local arts community is putting their newly updated company missions into actual practice after the events of 2020. Kudos to the Taproot Theatre Company for staging this show as it is an important show and above all else - an entertaining one.
Recommended!
“A Night With The Russells” runs through October 29th. Tickets are available here (including a home streaming option): TICKETS!
