On all VOD platforms February 25th
The new film “The Buildout” is promoted as a drama and horror movie. It features Jenna Kanell (“Terrifier”) and Hannah Alline (DC’s “Doom Patrol”).
There are a great number of independent films out there. I enjoy reviewing as many as I can as you’ll see creativity come through from many of these projects. In this case writer and director Zeshaan Younus has crafted a story that is ambiguous at first but comes together nicely by the end.
The performances from the two leads are strong which only helps propel the narrative to the conclusion of the film.
There are aspects of the film that were redundant (the long shots from what I assume a drone filmed) but nothing that was overly distracting.
I don’t know if “The Buildout” is necessarily a horror film. I’m sure audiences will have their own opinions on that matter. But, in the end, the film is interesting and I’m anxious to see the next project from Zeshaan Younus.
