The Damned will be available in UK and Irish cinemas from 10th January 2025
The new film “The Damned” is a hauntingly beautiful movie. Set in the 19th century, widow Eva and others in her small community believe they are being punished for their life decisions.
The film is a slow burner with the characters and plotlines slowly revealed. The sense of dread builds up nicely over the course of the film and culminates in an ending that is sure to be debated upon public release.
The performances were solid across the board and it was truly evident that the director Thordur Palsson had a distinct vision of how he wanted this film to be created. I felt like I was in good hands as a patron and the end product was solid.
Overall, I found “The Damned” to be a worthwhile viewing for those that can appreciate a slow burn rollout of a film versus a black and white by the numbers movie.
