The Seattle Symphony under conductor Julian Pellicano performed a magnificent live score to the iconic film, “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” on Saturday evening - capping a three performance run at Benaroya Hall.


There is a good reason why the Seattle Symphony has performed so many classic John Williams scores - they are unmatched in the movie world. His work with Steven Spielberg has been praised throughout the years as one of the most symbiotic relationships in film.


The Seattle Symphony sounded as beautiful as ever. If anything, they even sounded a tad more pumped up Saturday night than previous concert films I’ve reviewed.


There were a few patrons dressed up as Indiana Jones - both male and female versions. And the Seattle audience roared in approval as certain actors appeared on screen, when certain things happened in the film, which only added to the fun of the evening.


The room was nearly at capacity which was also a great sign of how popular these events are. I do believe a few World Cup visitors were in attendance (fans not players/coaches) which only added to the international feel of the proceedings (which was perfect for this particular film).


As I’ve said many times, if you haven’t attended one of these movie performances where the score is performed live you are truly missing out on an exceptional experience. It’s absolutely worth your time to attend a performance.
