TAPROOT THEATRE COMPANY "The Importance Of Being Earnest" September 17 through November 1, 2025
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
By Oscar Wilde
Directed by Bretteney Beverly
Taproot Theatre Company
Seattle, WA
Review: Friday 10/3/25 - 7:30pm Performance
For whatever reason autumn felt like the perfect season to put on a production of, “The Importance Of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde. Maybe it’s only because it’s my favorite time of year or perhaps I’d like to think the play sets up the entrance into the holiday season rather well. Taproot Theatre has had some incredible productions all year long but their autumn shows seem to fit nicely into the changing season.
Besides the material being as witty as arguably anything ever to grace a theatrical stage, let’s talk about the cast without giving too much away.
Repeat offenders of the Jewell Mainstage at Taproot Theatre, this show was much like a select sports team - the best of the best were cast and it absolutely showed.
Christopher Clark and Calder Jameson Shilling were just phenomenal. Calder’s work and facial expressions are second to none. But then not to be outdone Christopher matched Calder’s work each and every step of the way. Both actors were absolutely brilliant and I can’t say enough good things about their performances.
Tim Gouran, Shaunyce Omar, Kelly Karcher, Jonelle Jordan, Alegra Batara, and Nik Doner rounded out the all star cast. Most of whom I’ve seen at Taproot Theatre in other productions and/or other local theatre companies. Each actor had their own moments where the spotlight was on them and each actor knocked their parts out of the theatrical ballpark. It was similar to watching an all star band play live and each member taking a solo spot. Strength to strength this cast was stellar in every way.
If you’re not familiar with the show or Oscar Wilde in general, trust me, you’ll be highly entertained. “The Importance Of Being Earnest” at Taproot Theatre is one play that will have you coming back for more.
Highly recommended!
”The Importance of Being Earnest” has been extended through November 1st. Tickets are available: HERE!
