ACT CONTEMPORARY THEATRE "A Christmas Carol" November 29 through December 27, 2024
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Written by Charles Dickens
Adapted by Gregory Falls
Music by Adam Stern
Directed by R. Hamilton Wright
ACT Contemporary Theatre
Seattle, WA
November 30, 2024 Matinee Preview Performance
“A Christmas Carol” has been performed at the ACT for 49 years and for very good reason - it’s arguably the best local holiday show you can attend.
This being my third time back as a repeat offender, the show never fails to impress. The cast, the staging, the wardrobe, the lighting design, the special effects, etc. - all of it is top notch.
I remember growing up with this story and what always impresses me is that the show at the ACT has no weak links in any department. None. The show is as solid as it could be and it more importantly captures the spirit of the season and the original source material.
I could make mention of certain cast members that stood out but in reality the entire cast stood out. From the ensemble players to the young actors to the seasoned veterans, they transported the audience back to yesteryear on that fateful Christmas Eve.
The ninety minute show (with no intermission) goes by quickly - a sign that the show is of high quality in my mind.
If you have to pick one show to attend this season, and there are many quality shows around town at this time of year, “A Christmas Carol” at the ACT must be in the discussion as your choice. Yes, it’s that good.
Highly recommended!
Best,
Mark Sugiyama
