What a performance on Friday evening by the legendary Patti LuPone at Benaroya Hall! Backed by musical director (and arrangements) Joseph Thalken and the Four Play String Quartet featuring Will Curry, Molly Goodman, Suzy Perelman, and Jessica Wang, Ms. LuPone took the stage and absolutely delighted the Seattle fans with a two act set.

This was my first time seeing Ms. LuPone live and as soon as she stepped out onto the stage, the crowd erupted and she absolutely owned the stage. Her presence was that of a legend. I found myself always looking at her during each and every song. I mentioned to my plus one just imagine what it would be like to see her in an actual musical theatre production. Oh my!

Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of her Matters Of The Heart shows on Broadway, Ms. LuPone was in spectacular form. She hit notes at the end of the second song in the show that made my jaw drop. I was thinking to myself that this sounds like what the finale would be in a musical theatre show - and it was only the second song of the night?!

The three time Tony Award winner was humorous in between songs, while also poignant in between others. She spoke about the power of love in all of its forms and that this is what will get us through the times we're living in right now.

She covered a few mainstream songs as well such as “Time After Time” and “The Air That I Breathe”. Of course there were songs from some of her Broadway hits as well as the Matters Of The Heart album. Ms.LuPone could do no wrong on Friday night. She again was absolutely amazing.

This was one performance I’ll never forget. I am so grateful to have been in attendance to witness it.

Highest recommendation!

Best,
