Review: 7:30pm Performance on November 1, 2025
The first show of the 2025/2026 season at the Village Theatre brought a classic musical in the form of “Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon”.
I’ve come to expect a certain level of quality when I review any production at the Village Theatre. In this particular case the show was a great example of the musicals of yesteryear.
Being someone that was not brought up on musical theatre, I have reviewed my fair share of shows now but the majority of them are from the more recent years versus the classic years from over fifty years ago.
A show like “Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon” did a perfect job of recreating the feel of an old time musical while keeping everything modern on the technical side.
The large cast was a terrific example of everyone performing at their very best. The group of actors felt completely in command of the material and they performed like a well oiled machine.
The staging, wardrobe, and lighting design just added to the magic of the production. All the pieces fell into place under Karen Lund’s expert direction.
“Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon” is the perfect musical for those that miss what musicals used to be but it is also a great vehicle for the newer fan that wants to take a step back in time.
Recommended.
“Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon” runs through November 16th. Tickets are available: HERE!
