The new film “Brute 1976” is a throwback horror film with an apt title. The film does a good job of immersing the audience into the 1970’s landscape that will remind many of a few classic horror films from that time period.
A pair of ladies start off the film looking for a way to get back on the road after their car dies. Another group of folks are doing a photo shoot. Both groups end up at a location that begins their terror when a family of lunatics attack them.
The story has been done before and the influences are clear but the film is still an interesting one to a point. While the kills are good and the way the film was shot is above average for sure, the overall impact of the film was sort of in the middle for me. I wanted to like it more than I actually did.
Overall, “Brute 1976” may appeal to some horror fans who love this particular subgenre of film.
