Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express Edmonds Driftwood Players September 15th through October 8th, 2023
Agatha Christie’s MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig
Directed by David Alan Morrison
Edmonds Driftwood Players

September 16, 2023 8pm Performance
The first production of the 2023/2024 season for the Edmonds Driftwood Players was absolutely one of the best shows I’ve seen them perform!
I went into the show a little apprehensive. A well known murder mystery such as this one can get very complicated quickly and can in turn lose the audience before the first act is over. Not the case here.
The tone of the show walked the line between serious and witty. The show invites the audience into the world of Hercule Poirot as he attempts to solve a murder. Instead of merely watching, the patrons become a part of the show. This was not an easy thing to do but it sure came across that way.
The cast was really on point with their cues and their respective parts. My only minor quibble would be the accents disappearing a few times (usually when a voice was being raised) but that did not detract from the power of the show.
Since I didn’t remember how the mystery was solved from the book/film, I found the reveal to be refreshing and solid. It tied everything up nicely.
Don’t sleep on this wonderful play at the Edmonds Driftwood Players! They have a gem of a show here!
