The greater Seattle area was treated last night to the first ever performance here by Brazilian guitar master Lari Basilio. The first of two dates, she and her band ( Dante Frisiello (rhythm guitar/keys), Arthur de Palla (bass) and Helen De La Rosa (drums)) took the stage and let loose for the next ninety minutes.

For the uninitiated Lari Basilio has in my opinion some of the most melodic chops in the music world. Her sense of musicality is always what's best for the song. Always. Her melodies are like vocal melodies but played on the guitar. Her songwriting reflects this approach and it is highly addictive as a listener.

While she’s been pegged in the rock genre, Lari Basilio really is much broader in musical scope than just rock (not knocking rock at all). As someone that used to play guitar a bit, I was looking forward to watching Lari Basilio perform on the instrument.

I am happy to report she is the real deal. She played flawlessly as she went through songs from her newest album, “Redemption” along with past classic songs from her earlier releases. Her energy in the room was one of positivity and her playing reflected that. Lari would get lost in her emotions as she played and it just made the live experience that much better.

Her band are accomplished musicians in their own right. This is no surprise that they all had chops as an artist like Lari Basilio would not hire anything but the best to play with her. Each musician got a chance to shine during different songs and shine they did. The four of them together on that stage last night was something else to see (and hear).

With where the world currently is (heck the state of the union address was the same evening as the show I attended), performances like Lari Basilio’s was not only appreciated but it was sorely needed by everyone in the room.

There were fans of all ages that were at the show last night and I’m guessing most of them were guitarists. We all had the pleasure of seeing Lari Basilio play here for the very first time and also see her perform in one of the best venues in all of Seattle, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley.

Lari Basilio is beyond talented and with her upcoming shows, including the Cruise To The Edge as well as shows in Florida, anyone in the area should absolutely pick up any remaining tickets before they’re gone. You’ll be kicking yourself if you miss out on one of her amazing performances.

Highest possible recommendation!

Best,
