SISTER ACT Taproot Theatre Company July 10 - August 10, 2024 Review
SISTER ACT
Music by Alan Menken
Lyrics by Glenn Slater
Book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner
Directed by: Bretteney Beverly
Taproot Theatre Company
Seattle, WA
Review: Saturday 7/13/24 - 7:30pm Performance
The theatre was packed for this sold out performance of, “Sister Act”, the latest production at the Taproot Theatre Company. Having seen the film back in the day, I remembered it by title and faint memories alone. So, if you’re looking for a side by side comparison, you won’t find that here.
This musical comedy was without a doubt one of the best productions Taproot Theatre Company has put on in recent years. They’ve had some strong shows, no doubt, but this one really had the audience engaged in the show and feeling the vibes.
Alexandria J. Henderson (as Deloris Van Cartier) was perfect. I would rarely call a performance perfect but hers was on Saturday night. Her voice, her acting, and her energy was just unbelievable.
Anne Allgood (Mother Superior) was an absolute delight. Her veteran acting chops and voice elevated the show to another level. She was that good.
I’ve said this before with some Taproot shows but there honestly wasn’t a weak link in the cast. All of the cast members were strong in their own right and combined they made for one heck of a musical theatre experience.
“Sister Act” is one of those shows that will make you feel like there’s still hope in the world or at least in the musical theatre world.
Do not miss this one, folks!
Highest recommendation!
”Sister Act” is playing through August 10th. Tickets are available: HERE!
