So Where Was I?

Took care of some EA business today.  One aspect of EA that I would like to improve (but it's not necessarily up to me) are the demo submissions.  I have a few ways to drum up more submissions but if you know of anyone that has a band with an actual demo (or proper CD) recorded, get them in touch.  I started EA from the underground on up.  And yet - I'm missing the underground nowadays.  Where are the bands that are still honing their craft?

Another area that I am continuing to pick away at is Asian Cinema.  I've been into Asian films since the late 80's/early 90's.  So every now and then I watch and sometimes rewatch films from the genre to see what's been going on in the industry.  I had been trying to interview one of the current stars but that proved fruitless.  The language barrier is also an issue.  But, I haven't given up.  Yet.

Currently playing the new Jabi Shriki CD.  Good stuff.  One of the reasons I'm glad I started the magazine....to get exposed to new artists like this.  www.jabi.us

What else?  What else?  A few new things are in....but I'm going to wait before I unveil those announcements.

February is around the corner.  The first issue of EA came out in April of 2011.  So strange to think that almost a year has passed.  Overall, once #4 and #5 are out - I'll feel quite accomplished.

The Next Wave

Hello!

This one will be short as I have a photo shoot to do in about 15 minutes.  I'll be sure to come back and add another entry later this weekend.

One interview is scheduled for February.  A few more pending.  Issue 4 will be different, content wise, and art wise.

Issues 2 and 3 are available at the Northgate Silver Platters.  Go check 'em out!

Fitz and The Tantrums tore it up last Saturday at the Showbox!  Such an amazing live act!

CD that hasn't left my player:  Jabi Shriki:  "Puzzle Pieces"

An Update

The BANE interview is in.  It's not quite complete yet but it's damn near.  Since I'm working on the new issue this week, I may bump some contents around to future issues and vice versa.

New interviews to be scheduled soon as well.

But, for whatever reason, I think I may work on my own issue next.   Seattle Next Door Special Edition.  We shall see.  Or, maybe both the new EA and the SE....yeah, EA and SE.

The Tide rolled tonight....

Wild Card

Alright, so it's Wild Card weekend (NFL).  What's that got to do with EA?  Nothing but that's what's on my mind right now.

After taking the time to review some old zines that I like, as well as my previous three issues, I think I'm ready to tackle the layout of #4 and correct the things I didn't like, add things I do like, etc.  With any luck, I'll have the layout of #4 completely done by the end of this coming week.  And then the plan is to move right into #5 and get that one done as much as I can.  I'm missing a few pieces for that one still.  I also have a lot of writing to do.  A LOT....

Timing seems to be important when it comes to EA.  Or, rather, feel.  When I feel like getting something done, I do.  And the time feels right to get this next issue done.  Finally.

The Weekly Report

Happy 2012 All!

I'm going to do my best to keep this blog updated every week - even if there isn't much to report.  Otherwise, it becomes a disjointed pile of crap with little to no use for the magazine.

With the holidays almost over for everyone, things will be back to normal around here and with the businesses I deal with.  I fully expect to see my IN box full again once we hit Tu or Wed of this week - when people have returned to work.

So what does 2012 hold for Eclectic Arts?  I pretty much covered that last time.  In my head I can see things through about April.  After that - we'll see what happens.

There are a few layout changes for the next issue which I am pleased with.  It should make things more pro looking without the mistakes in previous issues.

In the mean time, there is also going to be an offshoot "special edition" of my Seattle Next Door work in magazine format.  You've demanded it so it's on the way!  Not really - but there is going to be a special issue of EA dedicated to Seattle Next Door - but no one demanded it but me.  One of the benefits of being the boss.  \m/

So, hey, to all of you out there - take hold of 2012 and make it your own!
